The Regional Economic Commissions of the United Nations play an important role in the economic development and strengthening of economic relations in their regions. The five Regional Economic Commissions under ECOSOC are:

Yearbook of the United Nations, Part Three: Economic and Social Development, Chapter V. Regional
Economic and Social Activities provides an overview of the work of the Commissions with a detailed subject index.
