Special Committees

© United Nations

In performing its tasks and functions, ECOSOC has established a number of subsidiary organs. Apart from Functional Commissions and Regional Economic Commissions, there are Permanent Committees and Expert Committees for important tasks, as well as Ad-Hoc Committees.

There has been a considerable increase of such subsidiary organs of ECOSOC and other additional intergovernmental bodies in the economic, social, humanitarian and economic fields.

There are special committees for Non-Governmental Organizations, for Negotiations with Inter-governmental Agencies, for the Transport of Dangerous Goods, on the Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labelling Chemicals etc.
